The 2022 edition of ChatVote, escgo! and the #esc chat’s annual event to find our community’s favourite entry from the current edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, has been won by Italy.

In an incredibly close head-to-head battle with Sweden, it was “Brividi” by Mahmood and Blanco that ultimately took the victory by 11 points over “Hold Me Closer” by Cornelia Jakobs.

Italy led Sweden by just one point after our 23 juries had voted, which meant the decision came down to the “supervote” – the televote-style additional vote determined by those who attended tonight’s event live in our chat. Carrying the weight of five juries, a similarly tight supervote also went in favour of Italy, giving them the overall victory.

The podium was completed by the Netherlands, while Cyprus brought up the rear in 24th and last place. The final scoreboard looked like this:

Now that ChatVote is over, we can also reveal the full results of the semi-finals! They were as follows:

SEMI 1: 1. Italy; 2. Netherlands; 3. Iceland; 4. Portugal and France; 6. Greece and Armenia; 8. Lithuania and Ukraine; 10. Albania, Austria and Norway; 13. Moldova; 14. Denmark; 15. Croatia; 16. Slovenia and Latvia; 18. Switzerland; 19. Bulgaria.

SEMI 2: 1. Sweden; 2. Estonia; 3. United Kingdom, Serbia, Cyprus and Germany; 7. Finland, Malta and Poland; 10. Spain; 11. Montenegro; 12. Georgia; 13. Azerbaijan and Czech Republic; 15. Australia and Romania; 17. San Marino, Ireland, North Macedonia and Belgium; 21. Israel.

As Manizha from Russia hands over the title to Mahmood and Blanco, it only remains for us to thank all our chatters for their eager participation and to wish the Italian entry the best of luck on home soil in Turin next month! Here’s this year’s winning song one more time:
