The first part of our esc-chat.com team has arrived in Malmö! My colleague Danny is on his way, Martin is joining us tomorrow.
During my very short flight from Berlin (45 minutes), I considered leaving my luggage in a locker and going to Copenhagen centre when I’m already that close and on the right side of the Öresund bridge. In the airport, things turned out to look a bit different – after a long search including asking 3 people, I finally found the lockers, which are located in a car park building – yes, don’t get as confused as me when someone from their information tells you this – they are indeed in a car park! P4 to be more specific. But that won’t be of any help for you, as when I was there, no single slot was left available. No Copenhagen today then!
The train ticket to Malmö was about 90 SEK, and it just arrived when I reached platform 1. It comes every 20 minutes and takes 12 minutes to Malmö Hyllie – the place that always made me wonder how to pronounce it, even though my Swedish should be good enough for it.
It could have been pronounced like this…
or this…
but indeed it gets pronounced quite as you maybe would have thought – “Hyllie”.
The long awaited answer comes – if you listen closely enough – at the end of this movie:

Right when you get out of the station, you’re already at Malmö Arena, which didn’t really look a lot like Eurovision yet:
However, the lady at the front desk in my hotel (get your Skånska skills refreshed!) had a nice “We Are One” button, and if I’m not totally wrong, she also had a Eurovision bracelet on her arm.
Eurovision can come!
