Last Saturday, the ChatAwards 2014 were held in the #esc chatroom. This was the second edition of the annual event. What began as an experiment last year has now turned into a tradition.

Our chatters and Facebook fans were asked in advance to nominate candidates in nine out of eleven categories. During the grand final in the chat, the winners were determined by live polls in most categories.

The award winners for 2014 are:

• Best preview video: Montenegro (“Moj Svijet”)
• Best national final: Sweden (Melodifestivalen)
• Best dress: Austria (Conchita Wurst)
• Best staging: The Netherlands
• Best solo artist: Ruth Lorenzo (Spain)
• Best non-solo artist: The Shin & Mariko (Georgia)
• Best song: “Calm After The Storm” (The Netherlands)
• Hottest entrant in a national final or at Eurovision: Vaidas Baumila
• #esc cult of the year: Helium Julian
• Lifetime Achievement Award: Lys Assia
• Song of the Season: “Survivor” (Helena Paparizou)*

As announced on Saturday, the ChatCharts, and thus the method determining the award winner in that category, will be replaced by the new SongHunt format. SongHunt 2015 will be launched on Sunday, 28 December 2014 (read more).

We expect the tradition of the ChatAwards to be continued in 2015.
