Malta won the 2015 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which was held at the Arena Armeec in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Saturday night. After a close neck-and-neck battle with Armenia, “Not My Soul” by 13-year-old Destiny Chukunyere took the prize, scoring an impressive 185 points in the process. You can see Destiny’s powerful live performance below.
In a fun night in our #esc chat, the Irish entry was the favourite of our chatters with an average score of 7.46 out of 10, followed by Albania and Malta.
After a long period of ex-Soviet domination, the last three JESC winners have come from Malta, Italy and now Malta again, so the event’s centre of gravity seems to have firmly shifted southwards! Although winning JESC does not qualify a country to host the next year’s event, it is presumed that Malta will be very keen to do so. We look forward to seeing what 2016 brings!
